Radiation Done!

Another stage ticked off!. Today was my last treatment day. So far it has not been too bad I have had the usual niggling pains and sunburn like discomfort.  I have been told it will peak this week and then slowly improve. The tiredness kicked in on Thursday and by Saturday I needed a long sleep in the afternoon which then made it hard to sleep that night!
My skin is feeling hot tonight I think it might be a restless night but Hooray I don't have to plan my day around driving to the hospital. It will be nice to get back to some "normal" routines. Although not sure if I will ever feel normal again after this experience. But that is a whole other story and something I am trying to put in the to deal with later basket.

  • Congratulations on finishing rads.
I had a pretty easy time of it with only a tiny red patch (that I remember anyway). Hope yours is the same.
  • Isn't it a great feeling knowing that you're through?!  As @arpie said, take good care of the skin (mine was fine until 3 weeks after when I got a bit of a tender spot) - lots of moisturising, protection from the sun and make sure nothing chafes.
  • WOOHOO!!!  Go treat yourself!!    I am SO pleased it hasn't been too bad for you - but be prepared for your boob to be hot for some weeks, even a month or more, as it slowly returns to normal temperature.

It is very important to keep your lotions & potions 'up to it' at least 3 times a day during this period, or peeling etc may still occur.   Be careful in the sun - make sure your clothes don't allow the sun's rays to penetrate until all is 'normal' again - and even then, be careful for a little while, just in case.

I treated myself to a holiday last year, after my 'active' treatment finished - I hope you'll be able to do something nice to celebrate!   xxx  Take care
