@KayB55 the good news is that any day now you will wake up and it won't be the first thing you think about. Nasty infections aside, the burns heal incredibly rapidly once the worst is over, which seems to be about two weeks after treatment. You'll probably still have raw looking patches and peeling skin, but the pain disappears pretty much over night (I didn't believe that for a second until it happened) Ongoing issues with tight skin, discolouration and scarring can be a thing, but the weeping and pain does back off.
