Hello team, I have had the hot flushes now for 2 years.High humidity upsets my system as much as high temperature.
Brought a thermometer as have been sick twice but could not tell because of hot flushes.
i worked an 8 hour shift with a temp of 38.2 and to tell the truth felt a little dizzy and tired but that didnt seem unusual from regular post chem problems and I wasn,t getting the chills after hot flush so that much felt good.
Ended up this time having Shingles when the rash appeared I worried. Other time had sinus infection.
So have followed every suggestion offered, I work on a combination too. A Shower will lower your core temp in 2hours.
Effexor, I went off did not work great and the side effect of forgetting was annoying me.Gave up on magnesium and menopause tablets.
I also take clonodine, currents are said to help and I put this in my cereal,did not have tea, coffee alcohol or hot drinks for 6 months then gave up on that,tried sage tea, white tea, other teas problem is you have to drink so much I end up waking to go to the toilet every few hours.only go at 4am and 6am hot flush now.
I do sleep on the towel I dried myself with it stays cool a few hous, have Bamboo ,gel pillow that i still have to turn when hot.a little breeze,water by bed,no high carbohydrate foods hours before bed,stay away from all polyester put cotton towel on chair,couch.wet flannel all the time even when out for back of neck. have hand fan in handbag.
I can still have a hot flush every 20 mins for a couple of hours a day. So this is less than all the time.
I also have Lymphoedema of the right arm so wearing easy put on take off tops with cardigan works.The flush always stars at neck and down bad arm then across chest.sometimes just feel I am sunburnt all over in bed
At present trying high fibre diet reading a science mag said this worked well for other problems and it seems to help.
the quicker food goes through your system and bacteria dosent sit in your bowel ,the better.
hope this helps we need more research into this- too many of us have it and its not JUST UNCOMFORTABLE.
