Peripheral Neuropathy success
(Re posted as requested with new title)
Just thought I would share the success I've had with Alpha Lipoec Acid for my peripheral neuropathy.
It's an antioxidant support, I've been taking 1 tablet with breakfast and dinner, 400mg (says you can up to 3 a day) suggested by my Med Onc and it has really helped!
I hope others may have success with it too xx

- NefertariMemberThanks for the link @strongtogether, I will look into those.
I was recommended Vitamin B12 by my psychologist of all people (Thompsons sub lingual) from Chemist Warehouse.
I have noticed a big improvement in the PN in my hands since I have been taking them, coincidence? who knows but I like the taste and I feel better mentally.
I also take Vit D, as I am low in that.
My feet are actually improving after 7 months, lol @Afraser "at the speed of a glacier" but I actually have some feeling in a few toes, even the ones that have been numb since 2016 (back injury). It is good to feel something, even the weird sensations are a welcome change ;) - AfraserMemberAdmit I don’t know. Over 6 years in, I count myself lucky that I have no
pain and that my feet are actually improving, albeit at the speed of a glacier. But I still have very odd feeling in part of my feet and very little in other bits. So if there is anything that speeds that improvement process, without any negative side effects (I am wary of miracle cures!) I am interested in knowing. - Either or both!
What's the best we can hope for? - AfraserMemberFor relief of pain or for lack of/change to feeling? I have found mega B beneficial and take D all the time, but no cure!
- Has anyone else heard about a product called Nerve Renew?

Basically its Vitamins B2, B6, B12, D and ALA.
It was recommended to me by a good friend who swears by it for chemotherapy induced PN relief.
Has anyone tried it or heard about it before? - RomlaMemberJust read this on the Herbs app from MSKCC
“In addition, because of its antioxidant effects, ALA may antagonize the effects of chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
Be wise and check with your oncologist first .
- JJ70MemberMate, I'll try anything. I'm getting some today. I rattle when I walk with various vitamin supplements already. Might as well try another one!
I want to be able to run 10km again. I feel there's a time ahead when my DIEP recovery will be done and dusted and my neuropathic feet will still be screaming. :o - RomlaMemberThere’s quite a bit on the MSKCC site/ Herbs app about ALA
- kmakmMemberAh, the old anecdotal vs scientific evidence conundrum... Interested to hear how it goes for you @Sister & @JJ70.
- SisterMemberI saw the Registrar today - no contraindications with chemo but no belief in it, either. Basically, give it a go if I want to but don't expect anything.
