Pain Management
Has anyone been on palexia? I am on it at present but not getting any relief, I wondered if it is just me as the pain is driving me nutty, or should I say nuttier than usual and of course it's Boxing Day!

- ZoffielMemberLooks like it is a bit like slow release Tramadol which is also a synthetic opioid in the same family of drugs. My doctor has mentioned palexia as an option if I have to move on from tramadol which Ive been taking for years. I'm reluctant to up the ante at this stage so we are keeping it in reserve.
I'm not a big fan of the SRs, I find they leave me feeling a bit hung over and headachy as they wear off--not a problem with the standard version. It kicks in, then it stops.
For me, Tramadol works well to give me some relief from myalgia and joint aches as well as the misery of encapsulated implants -not pain free mind you, just bearable. I prefer to take one in the morning which Ive found allows me to get up and moving. It lasts about 4 hours. After that I've decided I've just got to live with the pain. Which is my excuse for being diabolically grumpy in the afternoon. The SR version really didn't agree with me but everyone is different. Good luckSign in to react to this post - iserbrownMember@stork

It's a so and so when you have a pain killer that doesn't react like you expect it to! I am not a happy veg however it's only a hiccup that I will get sorted.
Thanks for trying to help

- iserbrownMemberWell that was a great distraction from the anniversaries.
It all helpsSign in to react to this post - kmakmMember@iserbrown It was a good break, and four days after we arrived the Letrozole holiday kicked in and my ankle and leg pain disappeared, which was great! The problems remain, but I had a break, and it was good to not be here for a bunch of cancerversaries.Sign in to react to this post

Kate no worries! Christmas and pain doesn't always make for a good mix!
I held it together for Christmas and the day was terrific but today the distractions are not enough to get away from the pain.
Thanks for trying to help me!

Take careSign in to react to this post - kmakmMemberYes, that's what I mean! Sorry C, still in a Christmas coma here. I've certainly found it to be very frustrating to take a strong pain killer, expect relief, and then not get any. Have you had success with opioids at all in the past? A pain specialist might be your next port of call. Big hug, K xoxSign in to react to this post
- pammiesydMemberMy daughter, who has Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, which causes chronic and acute pain, is on palexia. She also needs Endone as well at times, and also Lyrica. Maybe you could ask your doctor about these meds. My daughter did see a pain specialist who recommended this combination.
Hope you find a solution. Pain is such a bummer.Sign in to react to this post - iserbrownMemberBefore BC it was the odd panadol
Years ago when I had spinal problems nothing worked. Painkillers were like taking lollies. Perhaps that's where I am again.
Surgery was the only solution and in the long recovery fibromyalgia was a problem
From the Internet
What is known about this drug Tapentadol SR is a centrally acting opioid analgesic that binds to the mu-opioid receptor. In addition it inhibits noradrenaline reuptake. Trials have shown that tapentadol SR may have analgesic effects equivalent to those of oxycodone CR for certain chronic pain conditions.Sign in to react to this post
