New to this site

Hi,

I'm new to this website and would like to ask about a thick white mucus I have the 1st week after my chemo.

Is it normal and what can I do about it?

Thank you

  • Welcome to this network where you'll get lots of support and information. I presume you are talking about mucous in the mouth? If so then you should probably ring your chemo unit and run it by them. Chemo does awful things to your mouth.Your taste buds go awol and you feel like your mouth is lined with fur.Inflamed gums, ulcers and infectious throat with a high temp can land you in a hospital isolation ward - NOT fun! So you need to be careful with mouth care. You could have oral thrush or nothing at all but make the call anyway as it's better to be on the safe side.
