Neutropenia

Well apart from now rocking a new hairstyle since my last post (my youngest son had a great time shaving my hair off), I have had my first chemo treatment with all going fairly well. Apart from nausea and fatigue, for the first week the side effects fairy had been kind to me. However last Thursday I started experiencing severe lower back pain and by Friday night blood in my urine.

As you do, I rang the hospital on Saturday morning and as a result spent the following three days in hospital on antibiotics, fluids and lots of pain killers. After so many tests I lost count, results are inconclusive as to what is causing the pain and bleeding (they ruled out kidney stones and a UTI), however I do have an extremely low white blood count (0.2 when normal range is 1.8-7.7) and a highly dense liver which we are not sure is caused by the chemo.

So end result is I may have to see a urologist when I finished chemo, it may be hemochromotosis (my Dad has this, but not sure on my Mum) and I still have severe back pain!

Has anyone else experienced unusual side effects such as these?
