Thanks @arpie It is a 'long read' but well worth it to provide some background into what may, or may not, be possible if the restrictions on this drug are eased. The reporting seemed measured and avoided the cringe worthy claims that cannabis is a panacea that will cure cancer, epilepsy or any other condition. When it is presented as a product that makes it easier to endure treatment and chronic disease the 'whack job' stigma is greatly reduced. I'm hoping that we will all be able to access versions of the drug if we need it in the near future. Unfortunately, lack of progressive thinking could slow that process down. At the moment there are 18 federal licences for the cultivation of medicinal cannabis, 10 for research and 13 for the manufacture of a regulated product. It is not possible to see who has obtained those permits, but anecdotally they have not been given to backyard producers. There are, I feel, legitimate concerns about who is going to corner the market for a product that should be cheap and easily produced. We will see. Even if it is approved for use in Australia it could be years before it is covered by the PBS and I have no doubt there will be considerable profits to be made in the interim.I'd love to get hold of some seeds that are heavy on the CDB content and low on the THC --I loath being stoned and anxious and don't want to fall foul of a random drug test which prevents me conducting my own little research project on how effective it is for pain management.

Currently, it is legal to own 2 cannabis plants for personal use in Canberra/ACT ...... but not in the rest of NSW. With a machine called an Ardent - that would enable you to make your own!Medicinal Cannabis Oil will be of benefit to patients who have a huge range of medical issues -These include chronic pain, anxiety, insomnia, neurodegenerative and seizure disorders, autism, and relieving side effects from cancer treatment such as neuropathic pain, loss of appetite or nausea.You CAN currently receive a script from your GP/Onc for Medicinal Cannabis Oil - but most (for unknown reasons) won't do it. grrrYou will NOT get high from medicinal Cannabis Oil - The THC element is only 'activated' in extreme temperatures - eg if it is smoked - the oil is taken sublingually (under the tongue.). The oils are cold pressed, so no heat involved.Most cannabis oils aims aim for the pain free element (CBD) tho some may have a small mix of THC in it as well (it helps with sleep.) OK ..... At this point in time, I've been taking medicinal cannabis oil for about 3 weeks - and I must admit that my 'awareness' of my 24/7 aches/pain has been reduced bigtime, altho my hands continue to hurt (taking a squirt 3-4 times daily of the CBD oil! I may need to up the dose with my next lot of oil.) I am also sleeping better at night (taking one squirt of THC Oil before bed.) ’m so glad I stumbled on your post, but not glad to have found so many others also in pain.i completed chemo and radiotherapy, managing to get just about every side going, including every hormone option explored to only find side effects intolerable and being advised to cease treatment. 4 years on I’m still in significant pain, it appears treatment has triggered inflammatory arthritis, and fibromyalgia, worsened osteoarthritis. I have Canel stenosis in my spine from degenerative arthritis, last year my left leg threw a wobbly and refused to work or feel anything, I had to relearn to walk, I’d just got confident walking with no aids and a 18mm hole has developed in my knee end of the femur.ive tried just about every medication, running thru lots of different meds, most I couldn’t tolerate, the one thing that has the biggest impact on the stiffness and soreness has been low dose prednisone, now I have to wean of it, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to move and use feet and hands.i managed to access medicinal Cannibus thru the special access scheme, and it helped a little, the dose required to adequately cover my pain tho was cost prohibitive, so I’ve had to cease it, and that I can’t legally drive whilst on the medication was another consideration, although at the the moment I’m not driving because of pain in my right knee.the price of accessing it is coming down, just not fast enough.good luck Everyone, I think it’s a matter of trail and error finding the best combination individually, our body’s react according to what ever whim lol. 😘

Medicinal cannabis is legal in Victoria. Any patient, with any medical condition can apply via their doctor to use medicinal cannabis. All medicinal cannabis products need to be prescribed by a medical practitioner as part of an overall treatment plan.

WOW! Sounds like a real 'trial' to start off with @jena ... so are you still on your other meds as well? I've heard from others that it can take a while to find the correct dose that suits the individual.

That is a real bugger about your busted pelvis! How long ago was that? That floating bone sounds really nasty. A damaged Pelvis is always 'tricky'.

I am glad you've got it sorted now and hope it continues to keep you pain free.

I am waiting for some bits from the northern rivers myself - my sister visited Nimbin over easter - but I won't get it til after I get back from my Otis trip to Thredbo (leaving tomorrow.) Whilst I am on my 4 week break from Exemestane, I guess I shouldn't take it anyway, as we are trying to see if the pain diminishes (not yet!) on it's own.

I have continued experimenting with cbd paste and medical cannabis for pain control. I’ve changed my dosage and mix of medicines.

I took only cbd paste and a full spectrum, raw / unactivated oil infusion for 5 days. I wanted to ensure all the THC was out of my system. Over the days I experienced ever increasing pain that I was able to manage with CBD but I needed to take more than usual. After 5 days I slowly added in medical cannabis oil that contained THC

It seems that for me, taking medical cannabis containing THC along with a little activated CBD paste at night, then taking CBDa paste (raw or unactivated CBD) at least three times during the day, works best. On days my pain is bad, I take an extra dose or two of CBDa paste and /or 5 - 10 drops of raw full spectrum infused oil.

My my pain gets pretty bad as I have Mets in my bones and a rather well broken pelvis - broken in two places and the bit of bone that should be joining the breaks is floating free and likes to stab me from time to time. Not a lot of fun. Apparently nothing can be done, so I’ll just have to rely on magic I guess. I don’t suppose anyone has a magic wand? In the meantime, I am able to manage my pain and keep a clear head so I can read and be creative. One of the things I like about using this method of pain management is that I can very easily adjust how much or little I take on a given day. AND I can keep a clear head

Thank you @arpie & @Brenda5 for the links. The video of the woman with Parkinson’s disease bought tears to my eyes. How cruel that all sufferers don’t have the opportunity to try medical cannabis. Imagine how life changing it must be for her!
I shall keep my eye out for Medifarms products. The product I was prescribed isn’t Australian grown or made. I’d certainly prefer to support our local burgeoning cannabis industry
