I am just bumping this one to the top as it is of interest to quite a few members  ..... it really is just a matter of time before Medicinal Cannabis Oil is made available at a reasonable cost to ALL Australians - as it is a HERB that has vilified for too long.  Currently, it is legal to own 2 cannabis plants for personal use in Canberra/ACT ...... but not in the rest of NSW.  With a machine called an Ardent - that would enable you to make your own!

Medicinal Cannabis Oil will be of benefit to patients who have a huge range of medical issues -These include chronic pain, anxiety, insomnia, neurodegenerative and seizure disorders, autism, and relieving side effects from cancer treatment such as neuropathic pain, loss of appetite or nausea.

You CAN currently receive a script from your GP/Onc for Medicinal Cannabis Oil - but most (for unknown reasons) won't do it.   grrr

You will NOT get high from medicinal Cannabis Oil - The THC element is only 'activated' in extreme temperatures - eg if it is smoked - the oil is taken sublingually (under the tongue.). The oils are cold pressed, so no heat involved.

Most cannabis oils aims aim for the pain free element (CBD) tho some may have a small mix of THC in it as well (it helps with sleep.)

Be informed ..... the man made painkillers are addictive and potentially fatal if taken in large doses - there have been NO recorded deaths from Medicinal Cannabis Oil - and the anecdotal evidence is that it works!!

Yep - specially that Canberra is now legal for 2 plants each or 4 per household .... it should be Australia wide - for personal use only.

Agreed @Brenda5 - it IS just a herb.  It should be treated as such - particularly for medicinal reasons.  This is NOT anything to do with the 'getting high' component of cannabis - as you don't have to get high to have the healing properties.  You really need to smoke it (ie heat it)  to get that 'high' bit.  (Mind you, even in the 70s when I tried the real stuff, I never got a high either! LOL)  

I treat it as a herbal supplement. Honestly it SHOULD be allowed in the chemist shop in a safe form next to Rescue Remedy. Lets hope it will be in the not too distant future but I fear, being thrown in with the cocaine legal status it will take generations to get over the misinformation and fear of it.

’m so glad I stumbled on your post, but not glad to have found so many others also in pain.
i completed chemo and radiotherapy, managing to get just about every side going, including every hormone option explored to only find side effects intolerable and being advised to cease treatment. 4 years on I’m still in significant pain, it appears treatment has triggered inflammatory arthritis, and fibromyalgia, worsened osteoarthritis. I have Canel stenosis in my spine from degenerative arthritis, last year my left leg threw a wobbly and refused to work or feel anything, I had to relearn to walk, I’d just got confident walking with no aids and a 18mm hole has developed in my knee end of the femur.
ive tried just about every medication, running thru lots of different meds, most I couldn’t tolerate, the one thing that has the biggest impact on the stiffness and soreness has been low dose prednisone, now I have to wean of it, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to move and use feet and hands.
i managed to access medicinal Cannibus thru the special access scheme, and it helped a little, the dose required to adequately cover my pain tho was cost prohibitive, so I’ve had to cease it, and that I can’t legally drive whilst on the medication was another consideration, although at the  the moment I’m not driving because of pain in my right knee.
the price of accessing it is coming down, just not fast enough.

I told my Oncologist on Monday that I was taking Medicinal Cannabis Oil and she said many of her patients were too and she was fine with it.   She also wrote me a letter giving my diagnosis, surgery & treatment, saying that I am taking MCO to treat the side effects of my treatment for Arthralgia and Insomnia.   I suggest to her that she become an approved Prescriber for MCO - and she took that on board, so hope she does!!  She is very pleased with my progress so far since changing from Exemestane to Arimidex (after starting on Letrozole initially.)   I see her locum in 2 months - she will be off on maternity leave for 6 months.
