- Hi. I did not have mastectomy. I was diagnosed in Jan 16. Had 6 months of chemo then lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy in August. Had 30 sessions of radio Oct- mid Nov 16. Developed lymphedema in January. Think I have just been unlucky as I didn't think my surgery was extensive.
- dmcookMemberYes thats what i have also, thank you for your comments cos im really considering getting a bra now. Can I also ask how long ago was your mastectomy and when did you get your lymphedema. I had my mastectomy in July last year and lymphedema started a few months ago.
I have lymphedema in breast and under arm and around to the right side of my back/ribs which is were I feel the most pain. The bra compresses the whole area. - I wear compression sports tops too, sleeveless, I suppose because I started in summer. I feel they squish my breasts so they don't wobble or bounce too much. And give some compression. I have found lymphatic massage very helpful and of course pleasant and relaxing. My breast was red, hot to touch and hard. Now it's improved a lot, mainly from the massage I suspect. Good luck Karen
