Lung Done

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for your advice to do with my lung. Well I ended up in hospital Sunday morning with breathing difficulties so I really didn't have much say in the draining of my lung. It was a wake up call for me a slap in the face reality hit in my thinking that shit I really am sick I've been fighting so hard to be strong for my family and just trying to keep a brave face. So after a bucket of tears I've had my lung drained...although it was an easy procedure and I feel heaps better I didn't do very well....Yep I had a panic attack passed out and vomited but we got there in the end. They ending up draining 1750mls from my right lung!!! I have since got out of hospital and just taking it easy at home. Trying to stay away from all the germs around at the moment...

Take care everyone xx

  • It must make you think your own body is turning against you but it just happens sometimes and how good is it with modern medicine that there is relief available? My friends mum just had a drain op done around her heart. Some flu infection got into her system and she went down hill fast. They did heaps of antibiotics and the drain and she's gone home now good as gold! Worrying times more for the family than the patient sometimes.

  • Hardly surprising that you struggled with having your lung drained. We go through so much and when something unexpected happens it is just "yet another thing to deal with". And that's ok. It's ok to be scared and overwhelmed when it dawns on us how sick we are.  Letting it out is a good thing, regardless of the catalyst. Glad that you are feeling better and are resting up. Karen xox

  • So good that you have had your lung drained - you have now faced that challenge and successfully come out the other side of it!!! Taking it easy at home sounds perfect - specially if you have had the cold weather and rain that has been around lately - nice to be snug inside ;-)  . I think we should all be able to have a magic wand to wave around and yell out "GERMS BE GONE" so that we don't have to worry - could throw in a bit of Harry Potter style while we're doing it! All the best Xx Cath

  • So pleased for you that that is over and done with.  Wow so much fluid drained out.

great you are resting up, it's so important.  And very important to keep away from crowds. I went through my treatment ok ...  Unfortunately I came down with shingles early in my treatment.

    Sending hugs and flowers, ??????????

  • The fear is  big part of it and we can't  control how we are going to respond. Sure was a lot of fluid and am glad your breathing is easier now. I wish you a speedy recovery and response to treatment. Kath

  • No wonder you are feeling better - that was a lot of fluid! You were very brave - just the thought of it made me nervous - but often in this trip we find out that things are not as bad as we thought they would be!

So glad it is over and you are home again.  Yes - watch out for any viruses around you - the current flu-type is a shocker even if you have had all the vaccinations!

Take care and rest up.  Big hug.  xx  Michelle
