Lessons Learned
Good Morning Ladies,
Its been quite a ride for me this week and I have decided to share what I have learnt 10 days into my 1st ever chemo treatment.
Each day threw a new and equally horrible side effect at me, I was so wishing I would be one of those ladies that had :day 1 no side effect, day 2 no side effects, you get the picture I'm sure. Oh no not for me the universe has thrown the gauntlet at me.
Anyway if I was to meet anyone in this situation I would suggest a few things in your tool box just in case.
!) The address and phone number of a 24 hour pharmacy.
2) Have some diarrohea medication at home in readiness for if or when it comes.
3) Lucas Paw Paw Ointment (or something that suits you) to manage the after effects.
4) Baby wipes or wet wipes.
5) Anti Fungal Cream for if you get hot flushes and then the sweats.
6) Calamine Lotion or something equal for the rashes.
I think these are simple things to have at home not expensive and a real life saver in the middle of the night when the horrors start.
The other thing I found really difficult to deal with was the high, no-one told me about it and it was really a feeling of being completely out of control and extreme high anxiety. There is nothing to fix this but if i knew I would have not attempted going to work for those days.
Anyway being prepared is being forwarmed and I hope this will be of assistance to someone out there.
Today I am feeling not too bad, but I am just waiting now for what may come my way.
Have a lovely Sunday Ladies.
cheers
Donna
