It's been a while - Sorry :/

Hey All.....Sorry I've been flying under the radar on here....This place isn't really phone friendly (well my phone anyways) I have had a really icky time the last few treatments.....mainly thanks to the painkillers for the bone pain you get from the Neulasta! I've now weaned myself off them and will not be taking them again for round 6!

I've been posting on my FB page - https://www.facebook.com/An-ordinary-womans-extraordinary-experience-755583577912529/     though....here's today's blog

Hope you are all well :)

Day 5 - after round five.

Well I made it to the computer and can now sit up for a while without feeling like I'm going to pass out! I've even put on my proper clothes today!

I'd like to say I've been good and done a couple of rounds at the gym, but unfortunately that's the illusion my body is giving me! I still feel like I've just woken from an anaesthetic and my legs are still wobbly and achy. My tongue is numb and has an awful coating on it...I still can't taste my food! My finger nails are very sensitive to touch and have gone really white and have bands running across them and my finger tips are dried out. I noticed yesterday that the last two toes on my right foot are numb and my toenails are starting to hurt...I hope they all stay intact!

I managed to stay up most of the day yesterday and made myself go to bed relatively late to try and get a solid nights sleep....well it kinda worked...woke at 4 am and took some Panadol and went back to sleep until 8 am. I am really trying hard to stay away form high end pain killers...I already feel shit, so don't want the extra from them on top....

The pains in my legs are getting less frequent now, so it looks like Day 4/5 for this round are when things start to look better....The groggy feeling however seems to stick around a lot longer with this drug...usually until the day before the next round.

Well I'm finding that I can't really sit for too long at the moment or my hips and legs start protesting, so I'll spend the day shuffling around, resting and doing what I can to help move more of the chemical cocktail out of my system.

Looks like another cruisey Sunday is in order......
........rather be cruising in the Hot Rod :/

Happy Sunday

  • Hi Tracy,

So sorry you have been having a hard time of it. I found Docetaxel, very hard going with the bone pain. Only had the Neulasta the last 2 rounds after being hospitalized with neutropenia in round 4. Endone wiped me out and in the end I found that Nurofen worked the best for pain and still allowed me to function (well, sort of!).

It feels like forever but you do eventually get through it and soon you will be cruising in the Hot Rod again. I felt like I never smiled much during those Docetaxel weeks but boy did that smile return bigger than ever when I finally finished! Your time to enjoy IS coming. Hang in there.
