Is anyone else on Effexor? Please share your experience

I have just been switched over from Pristique to Effexor to help with hot flushes that has been quite severe since my hysterectomy 9 weeks ago.  I am not allowed hormone replacement therapy (cancer was hormone positive) so my gynae oncologist reccomended the Effexor.

Are any of you ladies taking Effexor for menopause/depression? and what has been your experience with the drug?.  I've been on the Effexor now for two days but I think it might be too soon to say exactly if it is reducing the hot flushes (google search claims women can experience upt to 54% decrease in hot flushes on Effexor).

Please share your experience with the drug, good or bad.

Thank you.

  • Hi Ne

I have been on Effexor for 10 plus years for anxiety and when I first went onto Tamoxifen after chemo I had hot flushes but they soon stopped and only occasionally happen now.. I was told by the Breast Nurse that Effexor is supposed to help with hot flushes...

Hope this helps and you are now finding that the Effexor is working for you.

  • Hi Ne

Ive only been on Efexor for a very short time. The only thing I have really noticed hot flush wise is that I used to have a flush the minute I laid on the bed. I would lie on top of the covers for about 5-10 minutes and then it would pass. I haven't had this happen for the last few nights so maybe it is making a difference. Hope you start to notice a difference soon. Karen xox
