Sorry to hear your still not feeling the best..The side effects sure have lasted a long time as you usually get at least a week where your feeling ok. Make sure you mention it all to your onc as there are lots of things they can prescribe for the different side effects. I saw my onc yesterday & she said the second & third dose are often not as severe as the first so fingers crossed it will be that way for you jacqui. I also found out that I did receive the full dose last time as my liver count was ok so it wasn't the cause of me feeling better this time! Take care.

I also found the only thing was moisturiser on them they started on the meaty part of the thumb and then I got bits on both sides of the thumbs on the opposite side down from the little finger, then the bottom of the little finger joint and also on the index finger joint (if you can understand all that) also a raised rash on my right hand, wrist and lower forearm, they have all gone now but I still heap the moisturiser on at least x2 a day and hand cream constantly.

The intensity tic tacs are good hubby got me some yesterday, the dry mouth is not nearly as bad now and the taste isn't as bad but still not nice and still can't taste food properly yet.

This time next week I will have had my second one and not over the first one.........not a good feeling at the moment.

The side effects of this one are many and severe I think and go on and on and on!!!!!

Hi Jacqui - I discovered a rash and redness on the 'red meaty part' belove my thumbs last night - applied mountains of moisuriser.  I had never had this before, so I am still copping a little of this, and a little of that! Cheers Josie x x x 

Hi Jacqueline, I had 4 cycles of taxotere and cyclophosphamide and I felt like I'd been hit by a truck for about five daysafter each cycle! I was flat out having a shower twice a day.

Don't ever be hard on yourself, your body is being totally bombarded with a variety of potent medications. Rest and take care fo yourself :-)

No I'm not strong jacqui just lucky so far not to have had the bad side effects. You are entitled to have a sook about all those side effects that you have been experiencing. Sorry I haven't got any advice for those red sore patches can you ring your chemo nurses about it?

Hi girls thanks for the info, I am going to invest in quite a few little boxes of Tic Tac's that is for sure.

Also love the sense of humor it really lightens things up wish I was good at thinking of funny things to say but will just continue to read and laugh so please don't stop.

I found between my 2 & 3 FEC that I didn't really get rid of the nausea but it came in waves whenever it felt like it, the Tax attacked on the Sun arvo (had it on the Fri) and today is the first day that I can honestly say that I feel well and have even done the basic house work for the first time in almost 2 weeks the first week flattened me the second week I gradually improved so if it does go like the FEC (gradually lasted longer each time) I am going to be in for a rough ride for the next 2 but then again I might have gotten used to it and not be so bad.....who knows?

Oh Loretta wish I was as strong as you, I feel like a bit of a sook when I read how well you are doing on it, I thought I was going ok on the FEC but not this one.

Tonya you poor thing you sound like you were flattened lower than me, I didn't actually feel like road kill more  badly injured and I think the hoot was more like the date from hell.

I am also going to get some lemonade ice blocks in supply.

Josie so pleased that you didn't have a heart attack that would have been the last thing you or your family would need. I have not had to have the white cell injection but guess I shouldn't talk too soon having 2 more to go.

Any advice on how to avoid the red sore patches on the hands, mainly the big meaty part at the bottom of the thumbs and then opposite then it spread up the thumb and index finger and slightly on the little finger, I applied a lot of moisturizer, is this a type of burn from the chemo? also got red patches on my cheeks left and then right?

Taxetore flattened me-felt  like road kill for 5 days -was bed ridden for 2 of those.The aches and pains were aweful.I was emotional,crying and had a bad headache for 3 of those bad days.I felt like my mouth was lined in fur and could only have lemonade iceblocks,vegie soup and crackers.Apart from that it was a hoot!!!!

Hi Jacqui - the rotten taste is awfulm I just had my fourth and final dose of chemo and this time the taste has lingered - I got  sick of lollies and ginger so my hubby went out and bought me some Tic Tacs - these seem to keep the 'taste' at bay - at least they are smaller and you can just keep 'popping' them - one of the new flavours is like the old fashioned 'Stimerol' chewy - quite potent and has a kick to knock your mouth out of your head as you get to the last suck!  They flavour is Tic Tac 'Intensity' (appropriatley named!) and should help somewhat.  I hope this helps you out - I got the aches and pains terribly on my 3rd chemo, and they hospitalised me for the final one because they didn't know if it was from the chemo - or the white blood cell injection or whether I was having a heart attack (hopefully not the latter!) any way I pulled through ok this time around, and have started my Herceptin - soon to commence radiotherapy.  I was devestated by Amanda's news -really made me sit up!  Any way, good luck - try the Tic Tac 'Intensity" (trust me, it will take your mind off the awful 'metal mouth'!
