having a tamoxifen break
Hi all,
The side effects of tamoxifen are enough for me to be taking a break. I am wondering if there are any withdrawal symptoms? I am unable to find any medical data from Dr Google on this.

Hi Kerin,
I took a break for six weeks off tamoxifen to see if the joint pain, night sweats, etc I was suffering from was relived. As suggested by my doctor. I was told that it can 'reset' the drug. I had no withdrawal effects, I did then decide to go off tamoxifen totally. I had been on it for two and a half years. Yes, my doctor does know. It is a personal choice of mine, but I hated the drug. I am now going through menopause again! Naturally
It won't hurt you to go off it for a short time.
all the best,
Liz

I've gone a few days without and no side effects. Oncologist says some of his people go off it for a few weeks a year sometimes around a holiday. And he cited some new findings that a period of time without it can strengthen the efficacy when you go back on it. I haven't taken these offers up yet but I like how they are future options.
best wishes

Kerin your own Dr is the one you should be speaking with.
