Hair loss and time frame

hi, am now 12 days in after first treatment and am curious as to how long before others started to lose your hair and what treatment you were on.
Mine is Docetaxel.
Also if anyone knows any good wig web sites for wigs. Covid sucks

  • Hi @likeleigh2, I cut my hair very short (number 1 blade) a week after I started chemo and by day 17bit was all coming out and fast. My brows are nearly all gone after 3 AC treatment and 4 taxol and I have 6 more to go.

I have been wearing scarves and beanies. I have not got a wig (covid makes it hard to try) but I am thinking about online so interested in any recommendations ladies make here as even though 6 more weeks of treatment, there is the growing time too.

    Best wishes to you ❤
  • Hi @Afraser,
Funny, I've been doing the same each morning . It's been feeling "coated" for the last 3 days so figured I was getting close. I decided to cut it short once it does start.  Always wondered how I would go with sort hair, now is the time to try..
Thankfully I'm an online shopper already and had already ordered some turbans as now deliveries are taking longer
  • Hi, I started to lose my hair about 7 days after my first treatment and it came out in big chunks. It was pretty much all gone another week or so after that. I was on doxorubicin and cyclophosphamide. I started off with a free wig from the cancer council wig library but I only ended up wearing it afew times. In the end, I preferred the turbans and head scarves which were cooler to wear.
  • Hi @likeleigh2

I lost my hair 13 days after my first chemo treatment (A/C) - I used to run my hands through my hair to check each morning and that was when I got a good handful of hairs to show for it! Not clumps, just quite a lot of single hairs. I’d already bought two wigs and arranged with my hairdresser (end of the street!) to cut my hair very short. I took my wig with me so in about 40 minutes, it was out with the old and on with the new! It was quite a relief, my hair didn’t feel like mine towards the end. I was able to go and have a wig fitted so can’t advise about websites but I’m sure others will be able to help. Best wishes.
