Flu like symtoms

I had chemo last Monday and for the last 5 days I’ve had severe joint and muscle pain.  I also have a chesty cough which I am trying not to take my second round of antibiotics for.  Any suggestions welcome to relieve these pains.  The only thing that helps is panadine forte
  • I started started chemo last Thurs and had pain in my legs and ribs on Saturday and especially Sunday, not so bad today.  Also I had flu sort of feelings.  Today just tired. I am taking Panadol and it seems to help.  Although difficult I am walking each day.  But don't push yourself till you are ready for it but it will help even if you do a short walk.  Don't forget your sunblock.
Hope your treatments go well as possible.  🌹
  • That makes me feel a little better.  I’m on day 6 of flu like symptoms and am over it
  • I had flu like symptoms after my first AC. Achy joints, sore throat and ears. I didn't get it with the subsequent rounds.
  • Thank you for that. My throat's getting better. I just wondered what to expect week by week but i think everyone is different. Thank you for your comments.
  • It's not unusual to have joint and muscle pain from chemo and have tbat feeling like getting tbe flu (especially if you had neulasta injection). Keep an eye on your temperature and if your throat is severly sore you might need to get checked out in the Emergency Department. Did they give you a fact sheet regarding chemo and caring for yourself and when to seek help?
  • I had my first chemo treatment last Monday and have also have had a chesty cough and sore throat and feeling really rotten generally, which I think I was getting prior to the treatment. I don't know if what I'm feeling is from the cold or if it is normal after the first treatment. Is there somewhere I can look up what to expect for the three weeks after the first treatment, leaving up to the next treatment?
