Final round ac has sucked the life out of me
Rant only. I survived the first 2 round A C without much side effects but holy dooly the final two have really knocked me for a six! Lethargic AF and getting tingling numb feeling in my left hand fingers tips dry eyes and mouth thrush coming in at at angles. And as for eating nothing tastes good anymore ☹ and super super thirsty all the time. Getting frustrated at life in general plus have to start the paclitaxel soon which not looking forward after this episode. Cancer is crappy 🤯🤯🤯

- ZoffielMemberHopefully that's it and you are on the mend @Karenp23 and that anything from here on is manageable. The things we don't know, hey? Probably just as well, god knows it's tough enough without stressing about all the extra shit that could go wrong. MxxSign in to react to this post
- Karenp23MemberThanks everyone, so I ended up in hospital for two days last weekend with neutropenic colitis, and I have now discovered I have high blood sugar also and superficial blood clots in my arm. Im thinking this contributed to me feeling so drained from last round. Touch wood I dont get neutropenia againSign in to react to this post
- Pumpkin59MemberI’ve just finished 16 rounds! AC was very tough , so being told the next 12 should be easier was music to my ears. However I have had the most painful myalgia with paclitaxal bed bound for up to 3 days each week. Nausea still with me and the metal taste in my mouth hasn't left It’s been awful. So happy it’s over. Anyone have the same problem? I’ve been told it’s rare. Also got a second opinion about surgery and god am I glad I did. I can see the light at the end of the tunnelSign in to react to this post
- KJC70MemberLike you I have just had my last red devil dose. Ask your oncologist about Hand Foot Syndrome, I got that after dose 2 and it was painful. Numbing and swelling in right hand was bad, followed by calluses and skin peeling. They delayed the dose for a week, and I found cold on my hands and Moo Goo cream really helped. Eye drops as well for the dry eyes.Sign in to react to this post
- Caz1MemberYes, last AC knocked me around too.....paclitaxel is much easier to tolerate, although you may have a couple of weeks of AC hang over. Hang in there......Sign in to react to this post
- NefertariMember@Karenp23, congratulations you have finished :)
I found the first two AC were okay, I was poorly for about 4 days with each and then picked up again.
After the third one it took me almost two weeks to recover, I told the BC nurse and she spoke to the oncologist who reduced my last dose of the red devil by 15%. It still knocked me for a six but by the time I started the taxol three weeks later I was okay again.
I had loads of side effects from AC, some were there the whole time like nausea but some disappeared after a day or so. Yes the treatment sucks!Sign in to react to this post - Karenp23MemberThank you. This last one has really beaten me up. I look at any red liquid stuff now and it makes me ill just seeing it :(Sign in to react to this post
- kezmuscMemberHI @Karenp23,
I found the last dose of AC the hardest as well, I think it took almost two weeks to recover from that one. Like you I hadn't had a lot of trouble with the first few, then bam. Well done for finishing that beast. I found the taxol a walk in the park with minor side effects compared to AC. I hope you do too lovely. xoxoxSign in to react to this post - primekMemberIs that tingling constant in left arm?. I am worried it could be cardiac as I haven't heard this side effect. If remaining unwell and any ache in your jaw or worsening in hand please go to ED and just have it excludedSign in to react to this post
- ZoffielMemberYep. It's designed to bring you to the point of death. There's a reason they don't give you any more. You've done it. Congrats.Sign in to react to this post
