Doxetaxol
Hey there
So after meeting with my oncologist today, im a little nervous about having my 3 rounds of Docetaxel. I know everyone reacts differently but can anyone share their tips and experiences for me please? I have 1 more round of fec-d then onto this one.

- Trikki2MemberOh that makes perfect sense

Lots of people on here haven’t had it and have gone ok but I think it had a lot to do with me not getting sick on chemo when I was surrounded by sick people wt work.Sign in to react to this post

- kmakmMemberKeep moving @Trikki2. A walk every day has shown to reduce the strength of the side effects. And also, on days when you're doing very little it gave me a sense of achievement which improved my mental health through the chemo slog. It also helps move the chemo round your body. In the first week of each cycle they were a slow shuffle but it felt bloody good nonetheless. K xoxSign in to react to this post

i think bone pain is a main side effect , but you might not get it so see how you go  steroids helped with it too ... actually, thinking about it the steroids helped with all side effects.
take care LxxSign in to react to this post - Kiwi_AngelMember@Trikki2 take the endone if u need it - it doesn’t knock u out but takes away the pain to make it more manageable. I had no pain relief the first round which was tough and then took panadine forte for the next 2 which was ok but then needed the endone for the last round.Sign in to react to this post
- Trikki2MemberHi @Lvlw
I really appreciate you taking the time to post..wow seems that the bone pain is a major player. Im so fatigued with the fec-d along with nausea. I find yep i just eat what i feel like. Kinda like being pregnant lol. It really helps to know what may be coming up for me. Xoxoxoo

i did FEC-D (3+3) and finished in march. i had some of the side effects that are listed for docetaxal, but not all and i tolerated it quite well considering.
bone pain was the main side effect for me too with docetaxal - like kmakm just for a few days after the infusion - but i did find it manageable with a bit of a routine. i used meditation (i found an app that had a visualisation for pain), magnesium baths and spray/roll-on and hot wheat pack (my onc was happy with me using these) plus panadol. i was also presribed endone for when the pain peaked on the 2nd & 3rd infusion. i didn't need to take more than 1 endone at a time.
i found that fatigue accumulated through docetaxal. again, this was manageable if i slowed down a bit as i got out of breathe easily. and sometimes i needed to make a decision to not do too much in one day to save my energy for the next.
i had some slight changes to taste, but nothing major at all (some things tasted a little salty). i was pleased that i was still able to enjoy my coffee as I'd been told me it would taste different! i followed the regime that my onc & nurse advised re. steroids, mouth wash etc and had no real problems with my mouth. i lost my appetite for 'healthy' foods, so i just did the best i could to eat well and didn't stress if i didn't
i did morning walks throughout treatment. not every day, just when i could, and towards the end they were shorter and slower. i really found that this helped with bone pain and fatigue (although i didn't do any walks after taking endone! :D as i used to fall asleep when i took it).
i hope this helps. i found it really scary moving on from the 'known" of FEC to Docetaxal. when i was in the midst of treatment a lovely woman who'd also had FEC-D said to me "this time will pass" and it did.
go well. i'll be thinking of you!
