Cording
I have had a tight painful feeling up my right arm for the last couple of weeks. It almost feels like it's bruised or something. It hurts most when I try to stretch the arm upwards. I saw the physio last Monday and she said it may be cording. She took my arm measurements and there doesn't appear to be any swelling so not diagnosed as lymphoedema.
Just wondered if anyone else has had similar? I continue to do my exercises (given to me after my mastectomy) and have added a couple more stretches after reading that this may help with the cording. I also read it may rectify itself but it may not - very helpful!

Forgot to say I go to a lady every 3 weeks for arm drainage and scare massage. My scare tissue was size of a matchbox and is 1/3rd that now.Though after each Chemo my arm aches collects fluid more and burns, tingling in the numb areas and only the areas affected by surgery, since I'm having Chemo weekly its not enough time between doses for much improvement hoping better once finished. But the massage is a God send for a few days great but the more around the house you do the quicker the arm fills up and the higher the humidity the worse.Doing some massage myself helps but not as good as having two hands to do the job.

Thanks for that I will go to pool after Chemo finished for sure and only because a few of the girls have mentioned it.Its not my favorite sport.I was in competitions when young before heated pools and diving into freezing cold water and doing 20 laps of pool has left a mental scar.WAS NOT FUN . BUT now I will do it for FUN at my own pace no-one pushing me I.'m excited already but have Chemo for another 3 weeks but have looked up close by HEATED POOL thanks Vivw.

Hi Perky, yes I had nodes removed, this is why I have the blockage. Scar tissue is like a plug in the lymphatic drain.
Since getting back into the pool I have had no problems, think this will be an annual problem during colder months when not in pool.
All the best,
Viv

Thanks Viv,
I'm posting this for other people needing future direction because it has taken the 5 weeks of looking for an answer to get here.I'm so glad yours has gone great news I saw a youtube of the cording you had, not heard of it till you mentioned it, looks really annoying.Massage By Heather.com does an Abdomen draiage video. The information below is for mainly ams My impression is you have to do Lymphatic massage for the rest of your life once nodes have been removed.I realise your operation might not have involved this removal.
I've had this for 6 weeks now and it has increased to different areas. Now some lymphoedema is developing.Which is why I'm worried.Have found some useful information from a German website by Elizabeth Josenhans of Hamburg -Step Up, Speak Out and a great video on self massage to drain your nodes which for some reason during the 6 weeks no-one has showen me yet from any of the therapist I've been to they ask if I'm doing the exercises.Lympatic exercise MassageBy heather.com and she has had a lot of hits so I am way behind some people.A wellbeing massage therapist doing Myofascial release has been great, I was reattaching under my arm to my rib area release of this has improved my arm movement heaps & she mentioned I should be doing Lymphatic drainage everytime after exercises.
Sorry I rambled on will do the swimming but still having Chemo at present. Thank you for all information I take it all in consideration of cure.

Hi Perky,
Sorry it was just one of those things, once I found out what they were and had the massage they just were not there one day. But it wasn't too long. Sorry this cannot help but there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Swimming was one the main things that has helped with the extra fluid in the body, just getting into the pool with compression of the water seems to work. Of course if you can do exercise that is even better.

Thanks for reply Viv, you did not mention the time span between getting the cording and its cure as I need to return to work that would be of interest to me in planning such an event.
