Breast pain still 2 years after surgery

Hi, been quite awhile since posting, which is a good thing. I am coming up to two years since had the lump removed and some lymph nodes.......the 12 month anniversary with surgeon all good, and see oncologist every 3 months, so can check with him too, but thought Id ask here first.

Does anyone still have sore breast/s when say getting hugged? I do and don't want to keep asking my husband not to hug me so hard, as its been 2 years.

Am on the 5 year meds too, which are another story in themselves. Hope to hear some thoughts.

Susan

  • Hi Susan,

Yes, I totally understand what you mean!

I'm 12mths post surgery & the lumpectomy site & sentinel node region are still very sensitive to external pressure. My husband is tall & I'm short & fairly petite, especially in the torso so I really feel that downward pressure when being hugged.

Both my specialist & radiation oncologist have said the sensitivity is a side effect that may or may not be ongoing.

That's fantastic news that you got the all clear at your last check up :)

    Regards Melanie

  • Hi Susan, wow 12 months all clear that's great. I only finished radio about one month ago. I had a lumpectomy and it wasn't till radio finished that the breast became sore and still is.  Both the radio specialist and the surgeon and oncologist said that is normal. Also my other breast is tender.....they assured me this was also normal!

    Interesting to read other replies.

    keep well.
