Arimidex
I have been reading through the blogs about Arimidex and found them very interesting. I have been on Arimidex for 6 months and up until 4 weeks ago, "side affects free" - until now that is.
I now have what appears to be the usual aches and pains in the legs and numbness in the hands, tiredness and headaches, so I guess I didn't escape at all I am just like all my other Arimidex sisters.
I will have to mention this to my oc next visit, but as so many others have said before at least I am here reading the experiences of others. It does help.

It is comforting to know that we are 'normal' and not just reacting to fears or paranoia. To know that what we are feeling is shared and conquered by many to the point where we can live a full and productive LONG life is very empowering. Thank you lovely Ladies and I wish you all continued good health. XxxSign in to react to this post

Hi to you all,
my name is finita ,and next month I will turn 62 .
March 15th 2013 I was diagnosed with invasive ductal breast cancer and had the lumpectomy plus 3 nodes removed and 6 weeks of radiation therapy .
I have been reading all your comments on Arimidex side effects for the last hour. What a true blessing to know that it is not in my head and that all the side effects are in fact real. I have been taking it for six months and not feeling all that great...gain weight, pains and aches , sweating etc... today I was doing some gardening which I so dearly love, but was almost in tears with pain and fatigue ...very frustrating as I have always been very active and now I seem to have to continuously push myself to do things. I started to go off at my husband for no reason , I have since apologised and made him understand that it is the medication and that I will try to learn more about it so as to learn to live with it.
My mother is a cancer surviver and is now 86yrs , but sadly I lost one sister at the age of 47,... 10 yearas ago .
I am still waiting to have the Brack test done . I can see that I am not alone in all of this and I almost feel normal after reading your comments.
I am having my yearly mammogram and an ultrasound on March and results on the 25th ...I do admit that I am kind of anxious and nervous and I do try not to think about it but it isn't easy . I still do lots of walking and bike riding when is not windy but I do tired easily and I don't enjoy it as much as I used to because of the fatigue. Just about everthing is now a struggle and that is something that my brain does not compute !

I'm sure you're right about looking after my grandchild, but as time's gone forward, I had had the X-ray and there was nothing really untoward, I've realised that I do just need to be careful when lifting him etc. I visit my chiro regularly and haven't been all that bad of late. The weekly nanna duty keeps me feeling useful, and I am able to have a good rest afterwards. I tried all the fish oil, glucosamine etc for the joint pain, but just found they were'nt much good for me. In fact made me vomit! So unfortunately I need to keep taking the heavy drugs. But if that's my worst thing with my coping with this disease, I'm not doing too bad. Hope you're going well. Live & hugs Kathleen. XxooSign in to react to this post

Hi Annie,
yes I know. I have the original book. It wasnt really about the cancer that I posted this comment it was more for the pain relief that many are posting.
I have researched this in depth, It has worked for my husband as a pain relief for his joints and I must admit when he first commenced taking shark cartelidge it was for his skin cancer, but NO it did not work for that at all.
As I said he has been on it for 20 years and will not go off it. Myself I dont take it, my docotor told me to take glucosomine because I am alergic to crustaceans and can not take Krill or Greenlipped muscle, and I take manuka honey with cinnamon daily and over the last month the old joints seem to be pain free. I think that my neck problems are pillow related and posture, so i am working on that.
As I said thank You so much for your comments, everything must be researched thoroughly first. I feel that shows like ACA jump on the pharmeceutical band wagon and every one hangs off them with abated breath.
I find Google, bless its heart, hands us a wealth of knowledge, even though when I was diagnosed 4 years ago today, my specialist said to me DO NOT GO HOME AND GOOGLE THIS, contact your breast care nusrse as much as you need. I thank both of them. I did find all the information in the package from BCNA was even a bit too much for me to handle at that time. I was fortunate to have Michelle Hanton from Dragons Abrest as a great mentor to me and I owe her a lot.
I think that I summed it up by saying jury is out.

Hi Vicki,
Thanks for sharing, and it's really great to hear shark cartilage is helping your husband.
I thought I would just mention that there is absolutely no scientific evidence that shark cartilage is a cure for cancer.
Very limited studies conducted on lab animals have shown that shark cartilage can slow the growth of new blood vesseles in these animals, but this has not been shown in humans. There were a few studies that were run in the 80s which included humans, however most of these studies weren't published because the studies did not include important information about how treatment was given, how patients were assessed, or information about the cartilage that was used. This raised serious questions about the validity of the studies.
The American Cancer Society is a reputable website that provides evidence-based information on this topic, if you want to read more about it.

I got my husband onto this 20 years ago for joint pain and he swears by it. he has had one total hip replacement and one total knee replacement. His orthpeadic surgeon asked him what he was doing for pain relief and when he said shark cartelege the surgeon was surprised but told him to stay on it. He has aches in his robotic joints, but then they wont respond to anything being made of titanium.
My point is give it a try if you want. I have researchhed it and there is a lot to read. At one stage it was said to be a cure for cancer, but from what I can see the jury is out. t can relieve the syptoms maybe. It has been hailed as a savior for arthritis pain, so I just think anything can be worth a try and if it works then it was worth the money. Warning it is NOT cheap.
JUST A THOUGHT

Magicmum, hi, I was taking Krill oil and found it was fantastic, BUT, when I started feeling really ill, I rememberd I was allergic to crustaceans and had to give it up. The doctor that I am now seeing here in Cairns suggestd that I change to the glocosamine because it is fish free. it has taken a few weeks but I think it is helping. My fingers and hands just dont have the strength in them and I feel very clumsy. Have had quite a few falls, but hubby and I have a laugh and put it down to being lopsoded now that I only have 1breast. Have to joke about it.
My toes and ankles are often sore, and when I feel like I have hit a brick wall, now days I have given in and have an afternoon nap. I have been putting all my symptons down to my 65 years, but I know that is still young. A lot of my problems I blame on the stress of dealing with 3 sons and their wives not getting on with each other. Now we have been through the sale of a home and a big move from the NT to Qld, renting a house while we are waiting for our new home to be build. Then I knw life will get better.
Magicmum, we will get there - I hope you get some help from the glucosamine.
