Arimidex

Hi all,

Went to see my surgeon today for my check up. I am 7 months away from 5 year mark.

I told him about all the problems I am having with Arimidex and he advised me to change back to Tamoxifen.

I saw an articile in the press lately saying that recent trials had been taking place in UK and it seems the recommendation is to take Tamoxifen for a further 5 years so 10 years in total.

I asked my surgeon about this and he said he had seen it too and yes I could take it for another 5 years for more protection.

Has anyone else seen this?

I have been sleeping really well lately so that's a bonus but achey joints in the morning makes for a bit of stretching and massaging to get going. I take magnesium already so I am going to add the fish oil too. Thanks !

I am taking 3 Glucosamine & Fish Oil capsules per day. I have been on the Arimidex for 15 months so far and last night noticed pain in my right ankle as well as the knee.

Only have til August to go and I don't know if the damage is reversable, do you?

Do you have trouble getting to sleep?

I am going to speak to my surgeon when I see him on 23rd Jan and see what he thinks.

I'm just starting my second year of Arimidex!!  - I've actually found that taking 4 fish oil capsules a day helps with the aching joints. i was dubious at first so experimented a bit - 2 weeks with fish oil, 2 weeks without for a month or so. Maybe it's psycho-somatic but it really does seem to help me. I still get pain in the legs and feet, especially after I've been sitting for a while, or first thing in the morning when I get up, but it doesn't seem to be as bad with the fish oil capsules.I've always suffered from restless legs anyway so also take Magnesium tablets daily - I think that can help a bit with the joint pain too.

Hope you can find something that helps.

Mine is also worse at night. During the day I am fine if I keep active.

Only 8 months to go so I might just stick with it.

Yep... been on Arimidex for about 6 weeks now... the fatigue has lifted in the last week, but I still have problems sleeping... and walk around like an old lady when I get up from bed or a chair. For me the joint pain is worse at night particularly in my ankles and toes.... mentioned it to my onchologist and she said to give it time.... and take pain killers to control the pain. Not happy about taking more drugs... however,  I'll do whatever I can to stop the Big C from coming back.

good luck with your doctor and keep us posted on what he says...

My joints are aching too, and like you have trouble getting moving after being still. I am sleeping ok though, too much in fact.

I just am hoping that it's doing what it'ssupposed to, I can cope with it if I know that. I look forward to hearing what your doc says.
