Arimidex side effects
Hi
Just started Arimidex yesterday (under protest but agreed with doctor to at least try it).
Today I have a headache on one side of my head and nausea.
Early side effect?
Cheers

Haven't been on the site for a while but saw your post. I have been on Arimidex for 6 months now, after about one week I found myself a little short tempered but that passed. My bones do ache from time to time and I take Panadol Osteo quite a bit and it eases the pain. I protested about going on the drug, after reading all the side effects we could get, it was really scary. My oncologist said I could get one side effect, all the side effects or none. I weighed up the pros and cons and gave it ago and things are ok for now. As for the risk of long term effects, that's a gamble I've taken, I certainly don't want a reoccurance of BC. We are all so different, so give them a go and make notes for your next visit to the oncologist and let them guide you, hope this helps, all the best,
Hazel xx
Hi Diana, thanks for the tip on taking the Panadol to have a better start to the day, for me I take Panadol Oesteo at night on the days that the bones really ache. I enter the Cash cow some days, and wonder why I bother as I don't think I could get to the phone in 5 rings LOL. Doesn't take long to loosen up but really stiff for the first 30odd steps.

Yes, I did notice the thinning hair, and I feel like I just don't function as well anymore as far as memory goes.
Little vent: My Oncologist last week told me that I should only have pain in hands and feet ??? Feel like they don't totally get it. Onco suggested a two week break, already a bit over the week, the bone pain has stopped, sore knee that apparently has nothing to do with Femara has not had a bit of pain, the hot flushes have diminished.
For me I had my ovaries (instant menopause) removed then onto Arimidex four weeks later, I think that my body has not tolerated the sudden removal of oestrogen. From speaking to other ladies, it seems that if you have already gone through menopause you seem to tolerate certain medications over others.
I take lots of supplements to ease side effects, and have decided with this break to up the walking and excercise.
Speak up to your Oncologist, I ask lots of questions, which they seem to not like, but this is my body and my life and I have decided to take charge.

Thanks Viv.
When you were taking Armidex did you have issues with hair loss and memory?
Deb
Probably a bit early to have side effects at this stage, take a couple of panadol andstick it out if you can. I have changed from Arimidex to Femara, same drug different drug company make it, I found I could tolerate it more.
All the best, don't be afraid of supplements to ease side effects.
