Hi everyone, it has been a while since I have posted. Finished radium mid-January, only a few days before I was due to go back work from my holidays (what a way to spend the holidays). I was lucky as...
Hi Leanne, congrats on finishing Radiation. You must be tired going straight back to work, but it still feels good to be finished active treatment. The last week of my radiation I found a huge lump in same breast as lumpectomy. Ultrasound showed no cancer, thank God, but inflammation and oedema from the radiation. Soreness under my armpit was a seroma that I didn't know I had. Now a month later it is all slowly improving. I figure the node they removed in my surgery would have drained this area and now cant, maybe that explains what the doc calls a pocket of "lymphoedema". Does that make sense? Like you I have follow up mammo and ultrasound in June for yearly checkup, but the docs aren't concerned about this new lump. Hang in there, I know its freaky so soon after treatment. Perhaps ask your treating team for an earlier ultrasound to put your mind at ease. Take care, Tracey
