And so it begins ....

Hello everyone,

Started chemo on 21/1 (3 X FEC & 3 X D). What a long day, but as usual everyone was lovely & my sister was magnificent. Started the day with a lovely run to try and calm the nerves. I am fortunate to live at the beach, the water birds were all parading along the waters edge.

They do stuff a lot of liquid into you, kept wondering how it was all going to fit. :-) Kept waiting for something to happen during the process but nothing did. Started to feel a bit weird on the way home, flu weird. Things were about to happen.

The nausea hit me that night, it was horrendous. Wanted to pass out horrendous.  Terribly long night. Should have taken the anti nausea drug earlier - VERY IMPORTANT LESSON. The drugs eventually worked & I ate cruskets and homemade chicken soup (thanks to Mum) and drank lots & lots of water. Had a low level headache, fuzzy brain and dreadful weariness all day 1. Just ate, drank & napped. It seem to work by the evening I was beginning to feel a lot better.

Day 2, miracle! Very low level queasiness, with large gurgling & burping. Can live with that. And headache & fuzziness gone. Loving the anti nausea drugs. Decided to get up & do something. parkrun here I come. Biked down to the parkrun venue with Mum & the dog. Waved goodbye & started the run with the other parkies. I was prepared to walk or turn back if necessary. But I RAN the whole way, very very slowly. And nothing got worse! So so happy. Had something eat when I got home & a nap. Had another nap after lunch. Doing lots of burping but I am happy!

So now wondering what will be the next symptom. But what every it is I will deal with it & get through this.

Keeping an eye on all your journeys, you inspire me.

Xx Jane

  • Thanks for sharing! I start chemo in the next week or so, waiting for bone and body  scan results first, and like many others! I am more terrified of the treatment than the surgeries that will follow.

Every experience is different , but some aspects are similar, so it's comforting to know we can all support each other!

Love and light for easy recovery and beautiful days...

If you get a chance it would be great for you to share what activities you are doing with the "active and well" group.
