@bell59 I hear you sista, I hear you. I've been on Letrozole for two and a half years and bloody hell it's hard. Before BC I wasn't a natural pill taker and it still bugs me, however, anything to help me keep taking the AI.
I take two drugs to help with the ferocious nuclear hot flushes, and gosh they have. It's such a relief. I still have them, but not as many and much more bearable. I take something to help me get to sleep as the Letrozole gives me insomnia. I also take anti-depressants and see a psychologist. Both she and my GP think I need to be on them until I stop taking the AI. I was upset about this at first but am resigned to it now. And I take a shit ton of panadol osteo as required to manage the bone and joint pain.
The other thing you can do is take a drug holiday on a regular basis. My oncologist (brilliant, excellent) says taking three months off has no impact on the efficacy. So with her blessing I take two months off Letrozole after every 12 months on it. The side effects don't disappear overnight but they do ease.
I am determined to stay on this wretched medicine for the minimum of five years. But I completely understand those who ditch it. It's a really, really hard drug to take. Big hug, K xox
