After Chemotherapy

This is my first post. I haven't read anyone else's posts yet. I was wondering if there are women out there who have experienced any side effects like mine. It has been one month since I finished chemotherapy and my feet still feel numb and my leg muscles are very tight. I've been swimming and having reflexology massages and my feet and legs remain the same. How long can I expect this to go on for? I know that I need to be patient, but I would like to know if others out there that are further down the track than I am have had these symptoms and if they have recovered at all. I just feel I need to know I'm not alone in this. I could accept more if I wasn't alone in this experience.
  • This is a fab place to get opinions, but I have fast learnt there is only one ME.  Every-one will be different, so beware of comments from others, it can make you assume you may have a larger issue than is there.  I always feel the best relief when I first ring my breast care nurse, or then speak to one of the Doctors I am seeing.. otherwise I am still left wondering!  I work in Pharmacy, and I always ask the Pharmacist for an important answer!

  • Hello,

I am no expert, but I remember someone writing something about taking Vit B 6 ? ..to help counter the effects of the chemotherapy  that may cause some neuropathy.

Time is also a healer so..

I suggest you try and speak to a BC nurse or your Doctor perhaps.

    Kathy.

  • Oh my, don't be distresed just yet ....your body has a lot to get over & will do it in its own sweet time. I didn't feel right for months & have ostoearthritis so have pain patch medication 24/7 & still felt awful & took anti nausea for what seemed like ages. Now nearly 12months after finishing chemo & rads I think I am about 90% & have got a job for just three hours a day. I figure even if I feel really crap I can manage three hours.

Be gentle with yourself, its a hard lesson to learn, but believe me a valuable one.
