Hi Maxine, Yes I fully understand your plight. I have been on Afinitor for the past 5 months. Initially started on 10mg daily until hospitalised with pnuemonitis, which is one of the side effects. I also take aromasin and have a monthly infusion of zometa. Had a bit of set back getting the right hormone because of side effects and progression of bone mets. About 2 weeks within taking the Afinitor I also suffered with a rash over my face, neck and upper body, mucositis and mouth ulcers, and a general feeling of being unwell and tireder than normal. At the moment, my body seems to tolerate 5mg Afinitor together with prednisone as well as the other's mentioned above. Currently on 5mg prednisone which hopefully will be reduced to 2.5 next Friday when I see my oncologist for results of follow up ct scan of thorax, abdomen and pelvis and bone scan. Hopefully have a good result.....no progression of bone mets. I am currently working as well but very tired by the end of the week, so looking at reduced hours once we get someone for my position. Soon I hope, as I'm looking forward to more lesiure time. Yes, you might be one of the lucky ones and don't suffer any side effects... you can only try. Keep us in the loop. Sue:-)
