I got laid off work yesterday, like many of the nation's bottom dwelling disposables. Guess what? It's OK.Two ding dong doosey run ins with BC may have left me scarred and misshapen, but bloody hell, it makes you tough. So. Unlike many who haven't stared down the barrel of an obviously loaded gun, we've learnt how it feels to be under threat. We know panicking doesn't help, even though it's a natural reaction.We are uniquely experienced in the art of getting people to stay the fuck away from us.We understand being poor and a bit bored isn't the end of the world.We know that for some it doesn't end well, but many survive. After a struggle. That the odds on that one can't be calculated or manipulated.I'm going to stay home and do bugger all for a few days. Then I'll contemplate the next six months. Hang in there, thrill seekers, this is going to be an interesting ride. MXX

Good words, I’ll hang on to those. I’m grappling with an Australia changed out of all recognition from the one I airily and confidently left (on holiday to NZ) three weeks ago. A week in self isolation is training me for the next several months. I’m fortunate that work is not an issue, I am not without some financial resources but practically everything I do regularly has come to a grinding halt for the foreseeable. Separation from family is horrible. But all my bc experience is relevant. Keep your eyes on the end game. Roll up your sleeves and do as you are told. Look forward not back. Take one day at a time. We can do this. Love to all.

That just stinks @Zoffiel You are correct though. It does make you somewhat unshockable with a good dose of "fuck it... I've done harder than this". Bored and boring is ok, it means nothings going tragically wrong...right? My daughter is waiting results for covid testing. Sux to work at supermarkets these days with the stupidity of some people.Any hoo...being in lockdown has it's benefits, especially if you have a good wine supply! All the best lovely. Apart from expletives what can one say! It is certainly a bitch of a time! Is your job loss a possible return to the same job once this is back on a more even keel.............yeah that does not help in the short term but nice to know you do have somewhere to return to eventually!As noted earlier, self isolation is practiced by us when in treatment without us even realizing we are gaining a skill for today!Best wishes as you navigate the hoops of emotion and practicalities of it all.

@Caz1 who would have thought that our practice run of isolating ourselves, washing our hands often, hand sanitizing, and keeping away from people that are sneezing would stand us in good stead for what is happening now. We just didn't have 20 20 vision (year 2020) upfront. Best wishes to all and stay safe, and as mums say, have you washed your hands?

Well I’m still in radiotherapy, (out of the mouths of babes) says daughter “ Well mum you are the only one of us that’s used to this- you have been like this for the last six months!” So there a silver lining if ever there was one....

I do hope that you get your thoughts in a clearer space as the last thing you or any of us need is to relive where we have been with treatment and the emotional toil that had for some.

I am fortunate in that I live in a rural setting where there's plenty to do. I have entries to make for our Creative Arts Exhibition when that can be run in the future so now my entries are being done without time constraint.

Banging my head hard around the computer with differing programs that I need to update for work however that is mainly because I never grew up with a computer and all it's idiosyncrasies. New mobile phone and not all apps transferred, even though they were meant to, but feeling happy that I have been able to retrieve information that I thought I had lost.

As to the birds, the sparrows must be at your place, haven't seen them for awhile. We have honeyeaters turning themselves inside out devouring the fuchsias. Recently we buried our pet kangaroo, he adopted us after we think being kicked out of the mob, lived here for about 3 years and was no trouble, miss him greatly!

Deep breaths and as we settle into this new norm.

Yep @Afraser The cold feeling is the thing.
Knowing what is happening in my head is helpful. Recognising the physical sensations and mental inconsistencies for what they are and knowing I have strategies to get back on track is some comfort, but I'm having a bit of a sulk over needing to pull all the tricks out of the box again.
Oh well, I'm in a very comfortable spot in the country, there is heaps to do if I can motivate myself and I'm spared what would probably be, for me, the impossible task of cohabiting while its all going on.
I had a good yell at the sparrows this morning for scratching around in my veggie patch. I even threw stuff at them. Something I wouldn't be able to do if I had to explain myself or apologise for being ridiculous while bellowing abuse at small birds.

I think it is grief. Not just for ourselves or family but the whole damn shebang. I’ve been without the cold feeling in the pit of the stomach long enough to know that it has returned! It’s also the contradiction. On one hand everything is normal - you’re in your home, doing normal things. Except of course it’s not. I’m reverting to my active treatment mantras - one day at a time, don’t fret about things that haven’t happened, don’t overthink.

@Zoffiel Thank you. I have so much to be thankful for, but the sudden bouts of sadness still happen. I now doubt every decision I make. It has to stop.
