The Funny Things
I thought we should have a thread about things that are so absurd about survivorship they shoot right beyond being depressing and just make us laugh, and of course for the things that are just FUNNY.
It might be something legitimately hilarious, maybe something upsetting that you've started laughing at for one reason or other, an experience related to survivorship that you just think was funny in an awkward or revealing way, whatever your take is.

- SoldierCrabMemberSorry ladies my idea of camping is the IBIS hotel ..... as it is only basic accommodations.... I am passed the camping age.....
- Harvey1903MemberOkay now the calendar is now a map! Not too worried about not being able to do all the things I want, has slowed me down a tad. And has helped with golf, slowed down the backswing, able to think of one thing only, like hitting the ball. Have had a few wins. :)
- kmakmMember@Zoffiel What a brilliant story M! I hope that one will be in your memoir (the one you say you won't write that you must!). Such a great visual in my head. K xox

- Blossom1961Member@kmakm We can organise that. I have plenty of springs we can stick under a camping mattress. I can also bring a Chinese fan and we can camp next to a river for your plumbing requirements. Fixed. So when do we go?
- ZoffielMemberI pack horsed all oveer the Victorian high country for years, sometimes being away for over two weeks. Proper packing; no back up vehicle though I'd sometimes go in with a 4WD before I left and do some water drops. I did a lot of that on my own, so you have to be well prepared. The pack horse has to carry everything you need for yourself and two horses so everything is kept to a minimum. Things can get a bit basic.
I remember one time arriving at Sheepyard Flat looking distinctly worse for wear. I was down at the river watering the horses and there was an Italian family camped close by. Nonna took one look at me and literally dragged me into their camp, made me strip to my singlet, sat me down with my headhover a bucket and started washing my hair. With home made soap. "Look at you, you need wash. And you smell.Your mother, she would be ashamed. "
Dumbfounded, I just sat there surrounded by complete strangers with my two horses tied to the front of their car while this woman scrubbed me. She gave me some soap, "I may myself, bring ash from the old country", which i carried with me for years. Best soap ever, but you didn't want to get it in your eyes. - Doin_itMemberKeep it up ladies. Had a good chuckle again this morning reading all your hilarious chatting 😂
@Blossom1961 Well done! You deserve a medal for peeing in a fruit bottle 👀 - SisterMemberYour comment reminded me of The Lemonheads "Outdoor Type" @kmakm. Love that song. While I do love a fancypants hotel, I love camping and have a big family tent. Unfortunately, hubby HATES camping with a passion so it's a rare, rare occasion that we go. I don't think I will ever manage sleeping on the ground again, though. I look at the camper trailers on Gumtree wistfully - no spare money to justify even a secondhand one.
Before we had kids and settled down, my husband and I went up to Darwin, across and through the Kimberleys, down through the Hammersley Ranges, then down to the bottom of WA and back across the Nullarbor to Adelaide. We did it in a Pulsar with the back seats taken out, sleeping in a 2 man tent most of the time (hired a little Daihatsu 4WD in the Kimberleys). Hard to believe this is the same man who won't do camping! - kmakmMemberWas getting a trim today. My hairdresser is lovely and a super cool woman in her thirties. I had a massive hot flush while she was rinsing my hair with hot water. Telling her why, I asked her if it was OK if she rinsed with cold water. No worries, and she kept it running for ages while the flush was at its most intense. Quite funny to be reclining backwards into the basin being cooled by my hairdresser. Not a scenario that had ever crossed my mind!
- kmakmMember@Blossom1961 Nope! I require a sprung mattress, heating or cooling, and adjacent plumbing. I shall chat to you via walkie talkie!
