Partner Issues
Hi there everyone. I’m really struggling at the moment. I was diagnosed with Stage 3 IDC and had to have a unilateral mastectomy, chemo and radiation . Unfortunately my partner of 7 years was unable...
I also had a double mastectomy back in October and I personally, absolutely hate the look of my very scarred front. My man was very attached to my breasts and always loved to handle them, so I guessed I’d be in for a rough time without them. He’s been extremely supportive with my whole roller coaster ride of breast cancer and the ongoing treatment, but he still won’t touch my chest, which for me is rather disappointing. Just to be touched where the girls used to be is still important to me. As we’ve always slept naked I’ve refused to change that habit so, no matter what, he has to see the new me. One thing that made a huge difference for me, was to finally pluck up the courage to go to the ‘You are really beautiful’ bra shop and buy a new set of girls. How very girly that made me feel again. He came with me and the awesome sales lady included him in the fun and laughter as much as possible while we tried different style and sizes on.
Everyone keeps telling us ‘to be kind to ourselves’ and yes I understand the reasons why, but there is so much still going on with treatment etc, it’s still very hard to remain as positive as we should.
one thing that is extremely important to me is having supportive girlfriends, they have been my life line.
thinking of you with lots of hugs.
