Teeth and jaw pain

I had a deep internal crack in a tooth and had to lose it - crown not possible so implant. Letrozole for 5 years and never raised as an issue, blood thinners slightly more so! All well, just a bit costly. Best wishes.

I had to return to the dentist yesterday as the pain did not go away and during the weekend was very intense.
This time one of the teeth she X-rayed was now dead.
I am on antibiotics and was told that it either has to come out or I will have to have a root canal and then the tooth will need a crown, $3000 in total. 🥴
I’m on Letrazole, do I need to take any special precautions when I have this tooth pulled?
Would I be best to go to an oral surgeon?

@Sister. I have worn a retainer at night for years to stop me from grinding my teeth. Nothing to do with breast cancer.  Lots of people grind their teeth at night.

One thing that my dentist did say to me is that it looks like I'm grinding my teeth and suggested that I get a nightguard for that and that this could be causing some of the pain.  It's never been something that has been a problem for me in the past but quite possibly another thing to add the the "thank you BC" column.

I had jaw pain on Tamoxifen and Letrozole after I had chemo. Two molars at two different times died and abscessed even though a dental check up had shown nothing wrong with the teeth prior. I don't know if it was a delayed effect of chemo or the hormone therapy. It seems to have settled down now touch wood and no more have died.

I have been on Letrozole for 8 months now. In May I had issues similar to what you have described. A dull ache in one tooth then it seemed to move along the jawline and even to other side. When first happened I was in fear that I needed a root canal (I have real anxiety issues with dentists!) and I did make an appointment for a long  overdue check up. Of course in the intervening week the condition changed and as it moved I felt a little more comfortable that it might just be a form of neuralgia. I medicated with Panadol and ibuprofen which did take the edge off. Probably lasted for a good week. Had the dental check up and all was good. Has been fine since. Was it the Letrozole? Who knows! Haven’t been back to my oncologist in the intervening period and didn’t think worth a call. 🤞that it was a ‘one off’. 

@Shakalker no letrozole is an aramatose inhibitor. 

@primek is Letrazole a bisphosphonate? Onco said it definitely is not one of the family, he also said it won’t be this causing my problem, not that I have any trust in him whatsoever.
As time goes by I am feeling it is more of a molar dying, my concern is I will not go for root canal, will I need to see an oral surgeon?
