I have it in the toenails but not the fingernails. Yes, 5 years later I still have it in my toenails but over Winter I have been very inactive and touch wood the nails are finally growing out instead of constantly receding. Perhaps you are doing too much with your hands and the nails need a break? I would be getting my GP to have a look at the nails as I could also be a fungal nail bed thing which could require treatment.
