- melclarityMember@Dandelion well nope you have no way of knowing if it stops working, only at your yearly checkup, so in between my yearly checkups I had a 2.5cm stage 2, grade 3 aggressive, its BS! so they threw tamoxifen away. Chemo threw me into menopause and then I was put on Arimidex, now switched to Aromasin. So hoping this works for me, but admit bit dubious after my experience. Certainly not going to worry about it though, have done all I could and should...onward to get busy and live live live :D x
- DandelionMemberAgh crap @melclarity, makes me nervous too that these drugs can stop working .. how does one know it stops working ? Recurrence? Do you take another medication @wendy_h67
- melclarityMemberThanks Wendy, hopefully less side effects, but not great it stopped working for you?? makes me anxious I think as 4yrs on Tamoxifen, same thing happened to me....I said to my Oncologist it didnt work, I had a recurrence, he said yes it did, it just stopped working. Uuuugh..can only do what we can. Thanks xo
- wendy_h67MemberHi Mel, I was on Aromison for 2 years before it stopped working for me. I found it easy to take and had very little joint pain. I hope it works well for you.
- Good luck with the changes in meds Mel, I really hope it makes a difference for you. Jane xx
- melclarityMember@dandelion ohhh its ok, don't stress too much, my side effects were annoying and nagging more than anything that just wore me down. Theyre not diabolical at all honestly. So Im taking it in the morning with breakfast which is the opposite to Arimidex as he suggested to try first. So 2 days and doing OK! :) lets see in about 2 weeks LOL. otherwise I feel GREAT! xo
- DandelionMember@melclarity, are you taking it the same way as arimadex? After meals , same time etc . I was told need to have after s meal or will get an upset stomach. Not sure how I'm going to tackle this . I take thyroxine but that's on s empty stomach and I don't seem to have meals the same time every day . Maybe I'm overthinking it (as usual lol )
- melclarityMember@Dandelion Oh ok, thanks for the reply, well I started it this morning, so will check in with a review in a couple of weeks. xx
- DandelionMemberHi @melclarity, I have a script for aromasin and will start to take it once I finish radiation, that will be in 4 more sessions (carnt wait:) so carnt say what it's like but am curious myself and somewhat nervous just thinking about this medication. Iv been told il be on it for minimum 10 years. Hope it works more kindly to your body x
- melclarityMemberThanks Christine, Ohh who knows! Ive been on Arimidex 16 months so I think minimum another 3.5 years? If I find this to be worse Im stopping immediately and then maybe I'll just put up with Arimidex as he said it brings my risk down from !0% to about 3-4% We shall see, he also said too that the medication is to prevent recurrence of BC but its more to stop secondary cancers. Anyway, I FEEL GREAT! just getting on with it! Journey is over for me LOL revision surgery thats it! :) x
