Not What I Wanted To Hear

Hi ladies, found out last week my mets have now gone to liver and top of spine. Really spewing!! Initially I was on Tamoxifen for 4 months even though my cancer was er - my doc said to at least give the tamoxifen a go. The pain has been absolutely excriciating from my back to my chest where I have lung nodules as well. Start radiation for 1 week next week to try and relieve tailbone pain before starting abraxane weekly for 6 months. Soo not looking forward to this. This thing is just progressing way too quick. Does anyone have any thoughts on the abraxane? First chemo I was on AC. I am expecting to lose hair again ( god, I only got it to a spike and now it'll go again ) but I really hope lots of you say you dont lose hair lol. Had a somewhat frank talk with my 13 year old daughter about this crap coming back again. I really didnt want to have to mention this until the time is right but with being in so much pain I think I should keep her in the loop. Hope everyone else is well xxxx

  • Sorry to hear your news - on the positive side, the treatments you are going to start should offer some relief. Most women find radiation really helps get the pain under control, and the taxane group of chemos often show a good response with liver mets. I believe Abraxane is the "easiest" of these. Some women even keep much of their hair.

I think you are right to be open with your daughter, and wish you all the best in the months to come.... Pam

  • Sending cyber hug to you....and having a nearly 12 year old daughter, you are doing the right thing by keeping her informed - just sorry you have to!

Not related to your post....but that beautiful cat on your profile pic! Beautiful girl looks just like my first furry baby...Gizmo....just beautiful and she looks very spoilt and content.....best wishes to you...Jen xx

  • I am also so sorry to hear about your latest news, I can't begin to understand how you must be feeling. I just wanted to let you know that my Sister has recently been diagnosed with liver mets and is in her fourth week of Abraxane and will continue this treatment for six months. She is doing well. Gets tired easily and has her down day on the third day but otherwise she is coping and getting used to her "new normal". She is walking daily and this helps. I think the important thing is having your pain well controlled, and it sounds as if you are in a lot of pain. I wish you all the best, stay on this site and vent as much as you need to. Sending you a gentle hug. Marls
  • I am so sorry to hear your news - sharing with your daughter is the best thing you can do - she probably understands more about you than you realise.  I also don't know about the drug you are about to start, however, I will be thinking about you and wishing you both the very best possible for your coming months.  Do let us know how you are getting on. s
