I was getting carpal tunnel syndrome on Arimidex and I have intermittent breaks from this tablet and the carpel tunnel syndrome symptoms go away then. I am very reluctant to go back on any AI's and my oncologist says it has probably done its job within the first 2 - 3 years in my case. Never quite sure why I was first told I need it for 5 years when I was first diagnosed. It is explained to me that I am more likely to get a recurrence from the tumor that was HER2 + .
I tried Letrozole in 2019 for 6 months, and had to stop that as I couldn't even toilet myself properly as my elbow joints were so stiff, tmi.. sorry! So I then went back onto Arimidex. I won't completely stop Arimidex, but I will be having breaks from it from time to time. My mental clarity is not very good on AI's also. There are alternatives to Letrozole, and it has to be weighed up with QOL.
Take care.
