@kmakm @SoldierCrab @Zoffiel thanks so much for your kind and wise thoughts about Christmas. It was OK in the end I suppose but no matter how much I try my adult kids and grandchildren just expect to relax and enjoy and drink and laugh about how old and conservative we are while we do most of the work and provide and cook and serve. We don't drink so by the end of the day it doesn't seem all that funny. My long-suffering partner who isn't their father says never again but I feel that's giving up the only enduring family tradition remaining from my past. Oh, forgot to mention the effort to cater for the vegan/vegetarian/gluten free contingent. It just seems so hard these days.
