Herceptin drip

Hi Emma, I am the same. I walk around with two hankies in my pocket during the day. My oncologists said it was because the chemo gives you watery eyes. My oncologist suggested using Paw Paw Ointment or Vaseline on the inside of your nose before going to bed as the temperature changes over night cause the nose bleeds. I have been doing it this cycle and haven't had a nose bleed. 

Hi Sam, yes Taxol is fine so far compared to AC, you don't get the knockout effect. No difference in tiredness, a few muscle aches & pains for a day that went away & a few stomach cramps. I have worked 3 days a week all through AC with only 2 days off so hoping to work through Taxol as well. Hope it all goes well, you should be fine!

Hi Emma, I have had just had round 2 of taxol after 4 AC. My nose runs all the time & bleeds quite a lot on the Taxol & gets blocked up. I don't think there is much you can do about it, sorry not much help but I think it is just one of the side affects!

It is I'm afraid the Taxol, it's a bit hard on soft tissue. Mine cleared up virtually as soon as I stopped Taxol, no side effects with Herceptin. Vaseline or even nose oil (chemist can provide) will help. On the positive side, my hair started growing back on Taxol! Which was unexpected but very good. 

Ladies how did you feel after the taxol can you live like normal and feel well? I start Monday!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you in advance

My onc said the dripping/running was Herceptin but the blood was taxol/steroids - should improve once taxol finished. If it is the taxol then hopefully it stops once I finish that - 12 weeks of it would be better than 12 months!

The anti-histamines do help a little (plus they give me a clarytyne as a premed anyways!).... guess we'll just have to put up with it and keep tissues handy!!!

I had weekly Taxol/Herceptin for 12 weeks and now im on Herceptin on its own. I had some nose side effects, mainly a blocked, bloody nose. One one occasion I also had a runny blood nose.

I was told by my oncologist that Taxol can do this and that its typically not the Herceptin. When I saw him recently post Taxol, he asked if my nose side effects had gone, so it seems its something they are aware of.

Now that im on Herceptin on its own ive had no nose issues.

Is it still continuing for you? Has a antihistermine helped?

I'm going to try some antihistamines to see if that helps. Dries up over night but then my nose is blocked. As soon as I get up it starts again :(

Hi Emma,I had the same problem and it lasted the whole time I was on it. The drip came very fast too so I always had to have a tissue handy. I never felt like I had a cold though which was good just a drip. I finished in March and have noticed now it is much better.

Thanks all for your replies and suggestions. I am hoping if it is a side effect it doesn't stay the whole 12 months of herceptin - driving me crazy and it's only week 2!

Losing nose hair makes sense with the dripping but my head hair is growing... hoping the nose ones will too soon (never thought would be saying that!!)
