Herceptin drip

Hi All

I have just commenced weekly Taxol/Herceptin (had 2 of 12) and I am finding I have a constant dripping nose (watery, slightly red discharge) and it feels like I'm getting a cold but not.... anyone else experienced this and what can help alleviate this constant dripping/nose soreness?

thanks

  • On Jel, your post about jibberish made me laugh.

now back to the runny nose thing. I found that I had this as well when having TCH chemo. I think Sue is right about the losing the hair in your nasal passages. My GP suggested keeping the nostrils moist with some Vaseline on a cotton bud applied into the nostrils. To be honest I don't know how much good it did but I did find that the bleeding stopped. Good luck. Karen xox

  • OMG - this touchscreen will drive me nuts

Sorry for the typos and let me know if it does not make sense as I can retype...

It would be so great if we could go baba and edit the jibberish that sometimes is left after 'post' button has been pressed

  • Not on it myself but have similar problems due toergies and propensity to bleed.

Red indicates tou mah have a capillary ruptured someplace and it is mixing qith the mucus. Moist air helps and qith cold setting in air is dey. Tou can use nasal.sorays to keep it moist or even get a portable machine to keep room U R in moist.

It would be good idea ro mention dripping nose to the medical team as it mist be a low grade allergic reaction and they could.in such case help you stop it.

  • Hi Emma - I have just had week 11 of the 12 taxol and herceptin. I have had a slightly runny blood stained nasal discharge all along. My nose can be blocked some mornings when I wake up. Saline nasal sprays have been suggested but I just put up with it. Nearly finished!!! Sues

  • I've  only just finished AC chemo but always get a watery nose and blood sometimes day 8 to 10. I imagine similar issues with taxol as mucosa and nasal lining are probably still affected by chemo. Can't  imagine what would help except to pat dry not wipe. Sorry not much help. Kath x

  • Hi Emma,

I cant offer much help but Nat had a constant runny nose on chemo especially around dusty places because dont forget when you loose you hair you loose ALL you hair including nose hairs that help filter dust/pollen etc which will make your nose drip. red discharge?? mmm hope somebody else can help or give your chemo nurses a call

    Cheers Sue xx
