My personal thoughts is be up front with everyone. They will respect you for it. If they don't they are people not worth worrying about. It beats the Oh my god what has happened to you. They will be a lot more understanding of the situation. There will be empathy. You will soon learn the real people from the plastic people and you will know who you can rely on through the tough times.
Don't walk away from work unless you feel it is something that is best for "you", and no one else but you!! cause at the moment you are the most important one, please remember that and at the times when it gets tough cause unfortunately we all have to endure some tough times.
In relation to the lil ones, my heart goes out to you but they are the ones that you have to be most honest with cause they are the ones most vulnerable. All I can say is I wish you luck with that side of your journey cause that will be the toughest but honesty is the best medicine. If they can see your strength and watch you grow through your journey it will be a wonderful lesson for them but if that is not to be I am sure they will have lots of opportunities later in life as to how to deal with the tough and unfair times we come across in our lives.
