Hair growth

Is this the first blog on hair growth?

6 weeks has past since last TCH  chemo but still doing herceptin. No sign of new hair growth? Had a double mastectomy last week which I suppose very stressful on my body but I did expect some hair growth. Losing both big toe nails and my feet still feel frozen. What would I do without my electric blanket?  I am not sure how I feel about no breasts as I still have the drains in and avoid all contact with the mirror. Next stop more chemo called CMF and 6 weeks of radiation. Feeling quite good to-day and just a little stronger than I have been feeling. Surgeon did a marvellous job I think. I am a public patient here in Perth. Take care all of you. Sarah54

  • I had TC chemo and it is harder on your hair follicles ( so my oncologist said). It was 10 wks before the first hair sprouted on my head.I was so relieved. So give it more time. It's not easy being bald and breastless.I lost my identity for awhile there.I had a mastectomy 4 years ago and I wear a prosthesis. It takes a little getting used to but I'm ok with it.It's probably easier to have no breasts rather than being lopsided.I don't know so you can tell me when you've healed. You'll feel so much better when the drains come out.Good luck, big hug.Tonya xx
  • I had fuzz at about 8 weeks past chemo, and at 11 weeks I could make out that some was grey and some was white. My profile pic now is me at almost 6 months past chemo.Try not to worry Sarah,it will come ! I also thought I was losing my big toe nails, but suddenly they started to improve, and I never actually lost them.I just actually realised yesterday that my fingernails are totally normal again. All the ridges and lines are gone. You sound as though you are doing well Sarah.Stay in touch won't you.Cheers xoxRobyn
