There is another category for PBS price for Prolia - Osteoporosis diagnosis AND had a fracture - you do not need to be over 70 in that event.Also recently discovered I have a 78 year old friend who is on Prolia for arthritis but as she does not have osteoporosis has to pay the NonPBS price.The overarching criteria is osteoporosis diagnosis and then either over 70 OR had a fracture.But bloody disappointing narrowness of criteria for PBS price nonetheless because of damage treatment does to bones and the medically acknowledged synergies of Prolia with Hormone Therapy to further reduce recurrence risk.

@Sister It's a scan to measure bone density. I'm going on Anastrozole in May and one of its many frightful side effects is that it may deplete my bones to the point of osteoporosis. Oh joy... So my oncologist wanted me to have a baseline scan done. Tick.

Okay, this is a new one to me - what's a dexascan?

Let me know how you get on @melclarity. I sincerely hope there is an improvement. Was it the chemo that depleted your bones?

Yes you can ask for a copy of the dexascan i have mine in a week 2yrs since the last so hoping for an improvement as chemo was diabolical!  Been on prolia injections since. X

DEXA done. Pretty straightforward & painless. Hip, femur and spine. I'm interested in the results but it's a while before I see my oncologist again, in May, two weeks after the big op. Is it OK to ask for a copy?

I walked to and from the hospital. Feels proactive.

Didn't particularly like being in a hospital gown again! A fetching shade of blue; better than that puce pink at BreastScreen. And it was the same venue as the nipple injection for my sentinel node biopsy. Which remains the single most painful event in this whole sorry saga to date... Happy to say no panic attack this time  :)
