All in my head
Onco says Herceptin does not cause side effects even though the manufacturers of herceptin says it can. So, the peripheral neuropathy, sore throat, itchy rash, ridged and cracked nails, breathlessness and insomnia are all shrugged off by the Onco because Herceptin couldn’t possibly cause them. Each new round of herceptin adds another dimension. I wonder what my head will dream up of adding next time? Next ECG test in a few weeks so hopefully that is still behaving. It is the only side effect my onco acknowledges may occur. Admittedly, some of these side effects only occur in 10% of those who choose to partake of this drug. Oh well, only five months to go.

when they quote stats to you! Amazes me that they never think enough to include you as the one off who experiences the effects..
All too human! After all that, an old fashioned remedy for itching was to try and cool the body. Sodi Bicarbionate bathes in warm water heloed some people. Perhaps soaking a washer in Cool water
with some Sodi BIC and applying may help. All the best for relief. - Hi @Blossom1961 wonder about fresh aloe vera plant, or manuka honey ?? you could go on forever. LOL xo
- Anti histamines didn’t work so I will just continue with the lavender oil. @Zoffiel I have applied the anti fungal cream twice but no difference yet. I will apply again later just out of curiosity.
- These are these are the ones that itch. They are on my neck, arms and upper torso. With all the multitude of pills I have you would think anti histamine would hold a place but no so off I go to buy yet another pill to add to the mix. Stupid thing is, I only take two of them nowadays. Maybe I should sell some off.
- @Zoffiel Funny enough, the knees don’t itch now. My arm and neck have little itchy welts on them and my scalp also has little bumps which itch and the lavender eases it. Not really concerned about the knee and leg bumps unless they irritate me. I will try some anti fungal cream on one knee just to check out whether it gets rid of the bumps. I like doing unscientific trials.
@kmakm I am ER- so all okay to put on skin. - Lavender is best avoided if you have ER+ BC. OK to smell but don't ingest or put on skin.
- Lavender. hmmm. I looovvve lavender in the garden or dried in a bag in my wardrobe, but jeez, its got some associations for me. Old ladies. I guess that's us, huh? I can't afford proper essential oils and the cheap ones always smell rancid after a day or so.
Bloss, have you tried some antifungal cream? Looking at those little pustules, it could be a "thing" which crops up when the Herceptin kicks in, maybe a bit like happens with thrush during chemo. Frankly, Im just guessing, but this shit is infuriating. It would be interesting to do a totally unscientific trial with a sample of one treated knees and one untreated. Mxx - Lavender works well for the itches but only lasts for about thirty minutes then needs reapplying. I know a lot of people like the smell but unfortunately I am not one of them. However, I currently smell like a lavender farm on a balmy breezy day. The smell is worth it.

- @kmakm The nurses where I go now informed me that the lead onco at the public hospital is now admitting some of the side effects of herceptin, inc the rash. They said the onco’s are just suggesting anti histamine to combat it. Apparently more common than given credit for. No pain so no big issue. Just sometimes the itch gets a bit much where my clothing rubs so I will give the anti histamine a try tomorrow. I hope you are keeping well! Have you found some cannabis in one form or another 😇😍
