Aches and Letrozole

I've suffered from fluid retention since the last Taxol and it gives me aching legs towards the latter part of the day.  I started taking Letrozole about 3 weeks after chemo so have been on it for 4 weeks now.  I'm still getting the aching legs (and still have the oedema).  I am wondering if it's that or pain from the Letrozole.  Everyone seems to indicate that the drug gives them aching joints in the morning - mine is not centred on the joints but the whole leg and it's later in the day (although, bizarrely, the soles of my feet are sore at the heel when I get out of bed).  Has anyone experienced this from Letrozole? I'll be seeing the onc on Thursday but any info from other's experiences would be appreciated.

  • Thanks, everyone.  From the sounds of things, I do think that I'm still going through the side effects of chemo with maybe a twinge or two from the Letrozole.  I see the onc on Thursday and I will go with my usual list of side effects (I'm sure he loves them!) and questions.
  • Make a list of all the side effects that you are having @Sister  - so your Onc is aware of ALL of them- maybe number each one with a pain/annoyance level 1-5?!

I was on Letrozole for 2 months before changing to Exemestane & was hurting all over - but particularly hands & feet (ball of the foot specifically.)  Hips as well.  But my legs were OK & no oedema.

I hope it settles for you, soon. xx

  • Sometimes i have aching heels, knees that feel like they are swollen but aren't and the whole hip, knee, ankle and hands joint ache.  The last time i had aching legs my electrolyte levels were down so i made sure i had some hydralyte. It seemed to work...maybe it could be that?
  • No, sorry @Sister. I have joint ache all day and night, but not heel ache. No swelling, but my legs in general can sometimes feel generally sore late in the day. K xox
  • We must have started our hormone inhibitors at about the same time @Sister . I'm on the Arimidex , luckily no oedema so far for me
Hooe it settles for you. Xxx
