My mother was English. My Scottish father firmly believed every ailment could be remedied by TCP (a simple antiseptic), Zambuk (green slime also supposed to have antiseptic qualities) or swimming in salt water. No ifs or buts. Personally I think anything I have avoided or survived is largely due to either refusal to believe in it or laughter - still the best medicine in my book. But I do like porridge.
