- UnicornkissesMemberSomeone before mentioned using a straw to drink through. It helps to bypass the taste buds, possibly try that too.
- primekMemberI also sometimes had 1/4 oj with soda water. And also yes re reflux...I needed nexium twice daily to combat it.
- PiccmeMemberHi @Hendrix, I am so sorry to hear about your continued side effects from deviltaxel. I didn't mention it previously because everyone's experiences are different and I didn't want to worry you when you seemed to be doing ok to begin with. I too experience chest pains after treatment. I ended up on liquid morphine after my first treatment due to the pain. I had ECG and everything turned out ok but the onc prescribed somac (for reflux) which can be a common side effect from docetaxel. It was wise to take yourself to the ED, heart pain can be really scary! Hopefully keeping hydrated which I agree is hard to do when everything tastes so bloody hideous will fix the chest pains. Just in case you do experience any further chest pain remember to mention it to your onc. It may be reflux as well?? I take somac for the first week, I still get the pain but not as severely. Hope you are feeling better.
- Molly001MemberI tollerated a few cordials or the cheap chilled 25% juices. Loaded with sugar, but was better than dehydration.
- TonyaMMemberLemon cordial
- primekMemberI had soda or mineral water with lemon. Normal water made me feel sick.
- HendrixMember@fairydust I'm trying different cordials the only one that I can manage to drink is the cottee's lemon crush sugar free.
- fairydustMember@Hendrix I had the same trouble with water with chemo the metallic taste terrible. However I found in the supermarket two cordials one lemon the other apple very good. They were free of preservatives etc all anatural. I found if I tried normal cordials or icypoles I reacted to sugar and preservatives. Normally I usually eat anything.
Thats a another thing I found fruit sorbets (in supermarket) very good for keeping up fluids.Again had to be pure ingredients before I could tolerate them. - LMK74MemberHey Hendrix, good to hear. I know what you mean about the taste of water. Everything tastes foul.
- HendrixMemberHi everyone..all good thank god...they found I was dehydrated which I believe as my taste buds can't even stand water
