I know there was a discussion a few months ago about what people are reading at the moment but I can't find it so I'm starting a new one!I read lots of good books (and some not so good ones) but I just finished one that was fast-paced, an easy read, a bit quirky AND the main protagonist was a not quite young woman! "It's All Fun and Games Until Someone Loses an Eye" is by a Scots author, Chris Brookmyre and can best be described as "The Long Kiss Goodnight" meets "Shirley Valentine" (I know the medium is different but the imagery works).

I know they are a little smutty but I'm reading Laurell K Hamilton Anita Blade Vampire Hunter Series. I just wanted something easy and enjoyable for awhile.

My Aunt Doris (now there’s a name you don’t hear much any more!) sent me an inexpensively printed book (from Boots the chemist!) every birthday and Christmas too. She sent the classics - Jane Eyre, Kenilworth, Black Beauty, The Secret Garden, Wuthering Heights, Little Women, Pride and Prejudice and so on. She shaped my reading for the rest of my life.

My Mum was a Doris - and she would have told you there was a very good reason for the name not to be heard anymore!I'm currently reading a YA book, "Sidekicks" as we have the author, Will Kostakis, coming in to talk today.

I just finished reading this book. Highly recommend for a positive read. I couldn't put this down and read it in an afternoon.

I’ve just finished “I don’t” by Clementine Ford. It is a great read about the history of the concept of marriage and how it affects both women and men under the patriarchy. I have quite a long TBR list- maybe now that I’m about to start active treatment I’ll have more time to get through them!

I've been reading some Di Morrissy novels - but am having a break by reading Jimmy Barnes' life story "Working Class Boy''! What an eye opener THAT is!! And it's not 'that long ago' either - that both areas in Scotland and Aussie were in total poverty!

Well worth a read if you can grab a copy from the library!

I have just finished "A man called Ove". Makes me see grumpy old men in a different light.....

I have just finished 2 of Peter Watts, "The Moon Burns" and "While Fire Falls". I am attempting to get hold of a third book in the series,
"Beneath A Rising Sun".

They are historical fiction set in Australia during WW2 and follow the entwined lives of 2 families.
Definitely in the 'can't put down category.
