What book are you reading?
I know there was a discussion a few months ago about what people are reading at the moment but I can't find it so I'm starting a new one!
I read lots of good books (and some not so good ones) but I just finished one that was fast-paced, an easy read, a bit quirky AND the main protagonist was a not quite young woman! "It's All Fun and Games Until Someone Loses an Eye" is by a Scots author, Chris Brookmyre and can best be described as "The Long Kiss Goodnight" meets "Shirley Valentine" (I know the medium is different but the imagery works).

- I'm in a similar boat. I have 50-odd books on my Mount To-Be-Read (I blame Kindle, it's too easy to buy books; plus there are so many good books, so little time), and I'm due for surgery with a couple of nights in hospital and a couple of weeks off work to recover. I don't know what to read first :smiley:
- I’ve just finished “I don’t” by Clementine Ford. It is a great read about the history of the concept of marriage and how it affects both women and men under the patriarchy. I have quite a long TBR list- maybe now that I’m about to start active treatment I’ll have more time to get through them!
- Has anyone read books by Robert Galbraith? (It is a pseudonym of JK Rowling)
They are all Crime/Thrillers ..... There are 7 in the Cormoran series..... I'll start with No 1 .... some light Xmas reading! ;)
The first 4 or 5 books have been made into TV Crime Series - on Binge, I believe - called CB Strike. - My favourite Anne Tyler books are Digging to America and A Spool of Blue Thread.
- I’ve just read Wolf Hall - again! I don’t think you even need to be interested in English history to be captured by Hilary Mantel’s evocation of Henry VIII, Anne Boleyn and of course the enigmatic Thomas Cromwell. A power play with very high stakes indeed.
- And I am also getting Tomorrow and Tomorrow… Julez.
- I recently discovered Anne Tyler - slightly on the literary and understated side but I find her very readable. She has about 30 books to work through. Just waiting on my world of books order so I can focus on reading while the nurse pops my canula in!

I have read lots of books in the last 12 months and as there are many newbies on here thought I’d kick off this thread again.
I just finished the novel “ Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow” and it was really good.
Also found “ The girl who fell from the sky” inspiring . - Thanks @June1952
I will see if my library has it or can get it in.
I have just finished reading “The premonition” by Michael Lewis about the pandemic.
Extremely readable! - I read of this book, probably on this BCNA site, and asked the library to purchase it - they did !
It is a well-written and easy-to-read book full of common sense advice and information.
The author does give the 'true' and 'false' of many statements we have heard over the years.
Well worth the read.
